The Key to a Vibrant Plate

Dietary diversity is more than a saying; it’s a fundamental principle for nourishing our bodies. A varied diet ensures that we enjoy meals that are colorful and pleasing to the eye and rich in the essential nutrients our bodies need for maintenance, repair, and optimal health.

Explore the Rainbow:

Challenge yourself to incorporate fruits and vegetables from every color of the rainbow into your meals each week. Every hue offers different nutrients and antioxidants, contributing to a well-rounded diet.

Lean into Proteins:

Diversifying your protein intake is crucial. From plant-based sources like lentils, chickpeas, and tofu to lean animal proteins such as fish, poultry, and meat, variety ensures your body gets all the amino acids it needs for muscle repair and energy.

Whole Grains for Wholesome Meals:

Incorporate whole grains such as quinoa, barley, and brown rice into your diet. These grains are tasty and packed with fiber, helping you stay fuller longer and supporting digestive health.

Every March, we celebrate National Nutrition Month

National Nutrition Month is a time to recognize the importance of healthy food choices and establish beneficial eating and physical activity patterns.
This year, the spotlight is on adopting a mindful and balanced approach to nutrition. Let’s explore how embracing dietary diversity and understanding the basics of nutrition can lead us toward a more healthful existence.

Meet Chris Hernandez, RDN

Hi! I’m Chris, the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) at Age Well Senior Services. I’m a foodie at heart with a love for cooking.
Combining my passion for nutrition with my strong background in research in optimal performance, I like to blend scientific insight with more practical dietary guidance. I take great pride in being a proponent of helping people live their healthiest lives so that they can continue to do everything they love.
Beyond my role at Age Well, I’m a fine art wedding photographer and filmmaker and a strength and nutrition coach dedicated to achieving the peak performance of combat athletes.
If I’m not in the office, editing studio, or coaching in the gym, I’m probably off the grid, trekking through the backcountry and getting some fresh air. With a lifelong commitment to competitive athletics, my love for the great outdoors, and my strive for physical challenges, I’m devoted to spreading awareness and knowledge about achieving optimal health and performance.
I’m incredibly excited to share insights and help my community where everyone can live their best life!
